Ex Method
Description of Process
Ex pipe is a PVC no-dig structural lining system manufactured in Australia under factory controlled quality standards.
PVC is the material of choice for new sewer pipes and an Ex liner simply provides the same strength and durability of a new PVC pipe without the need for excavation.
Typical Applications
Ex pipe has been used throughout Australia for over 17 years for the rehabilitation of reticulation sewers. The speed and efficiency of the process enable 2 to 3 separate linings to be installed in a single day.

Installation
The factory extruded coil of PVC Ex pipe is loaded into a warming trailer on site and heated until it is soft. When the correct temperature is reached, the Ex pipe is folded onto itself so that it fits inside the existing pipe and winched from one access chamber to the other. Steam injectors are then fitted to each end of the Ex pipe so that steam and pressure can be applied internally to expand and form the Ex pipe lining tightly against the host pipe. This type of lining is often referred to as “fold and formed”
Available Sizes
Ex liner is suitable for sewer and stormwater pipes in 150mm, 225mm and 300mm diameter.
Materials
Ex pipe is manufactured in Australia by Vinidex Ltd from a modified PVC formulation. Manufacture and installation of Ex pipe are undertaken to ISO9001:2001.
